SLOANE INDIGO

Independent Designer · Brand · Product · UX

Years of hands-on experience in food service before moving into design. Design is what I built next — and the four projects on this site are the record of that work, shipped to real users, iterated against real use.

Petal Supply Co

A century-old wholesale distributor, multi-state, thousands of customers, a 70+ vehicle fleet — not a local shop. Three months embedded as a bookkeeper/receptionist — hired for tech skills, not research. Eight structural findings led to a full redesign: a unified buyer portal, mobile order entry for reps, dispatch tracking, and an accounting dashboard, all replacing decades-old infrastructure and a pen-and-paper order system.

Grace Mills

Built three versions of the brand before this one stuck — each taught me something the last one got wrong. The fourth: brand, storefront, and a 238-page operations manual for a baking business I also run, kept anonymous by request. Still selling, still getting sharper.

Sheffield Grave Care

I spotted the opportunity, built the site, and ran the business — then watched real customers abandon the booking form and question the pricing page. Redesigned from what I actually saw, not a research panel. Season one: a handful of bookings. Season two: ~50, with a measured 12% booking lift and 20% better form completion.

Foul Mouth Finds

A dead COVID-era novelty brand, rebuilt from a scattered asset library into a real, working Shopify store — 15 curated products, a consistent content-moderation system, and honest documentation of every UX decision along the way. Not a redesign brief. A recovery job.

Confection

Built from real, hands-on experience in the food industry — smart intake, complexity-weighted pricing, dual internal-and-client quote views, a production grid that prioritizes by what actually matters. A working prototype, not a launched product — mocked data throughout, honest about what hasn't shipped yet.

About
Sloane

Years of hands-on experience in food service before moving into design. That background shows up in the work — Grace Mills, Sheffield Grave Care, and Confection all come from having actually done the job before designing for it.

The projects on this site are connected. Grace Mills is the operations system I wrote out of the kitchen — the manual no one handed me on day one. Confection is the booking app I needed for years and never had. Sheffield Grave Care is a service business I built, ran, and am rebuilding from what I learned operating it.

The work isn't a portfolio of unrelated client projects. It's one person's record of building things, watching them break, and rebuilding from truth. The Inverse Method came out of that — not from a design school.
